YokYok a été invité par la galerie libanaise Art in Motion à l’occasion d’une exposition d’art contemporain dans l’espace public dans les jardins de Sanayeh, en plein centre de Beyrouth. La galerie voulait exposer une installation qui joue avec le lieu, sa configuration et son histoire, et propose aux visiteurs une expérience insolite de l’espace.
Le Paper Dome est un objet architectural recouvert de papier. Le journal, symbole du quotidien et de la vie de Beirut, à la fois fragile et chargé de sens, est disposé en tuiles pour transformer en abri une structure bois de 10m de diamètre.
L'objet est soulevé et repose sur le sol en un point. Le visiteur curieux y pénètre alors, faisant l'expérience de l'espace, du calme et de l'ombre qu'il procure.
Pour la construction du Paper Dôme, YokYok a animé un workshop avec des étudiants de l’école d’Architecture et des Beaux-Arts de Beyrouth. Force et patience ont été nécessaires pour monter la structure et plier les journaux, au fil d’un échange interculturel Franco-Libanais.

YokYok was invited by the gallery Art in Motion for an exhibition in public space at Jardins de Sanayeh, located in the heart of Beirut. The gallery wanted to show an installation that plays with the place, its configuration and history, and propose an unexpected experience to the visitor.
The Paper Dome is an architectural object covered with paper. The newspaper, symbol of day-to-day and life of Beirut, both fragile and meaningful, is tiled to turn into shelter a wooden 10m diameter structure.
The object is lifted up and is based on one point. The visitor penetrates it, enjoying the experience of space, calm and shadows provided by the Dome.
For the construction, YokYok led a workshop with Fine Arts and Architecture students from Beirut. Strength and patience were needed to build up the structure and fold newspapers, during an intercultural Franco-Lebanese exchange.
