Cobalt Muffin est une oeuvre originale créée en 2019 par YokYok pour le quartier de la Yuyuan Road à Shanghai, à l’initiative de CREATER.
L’oeuvre se situe au 1107 Yuyuan Road, à Shanghai dans le district de Changning.
La parcelle est destinée à accueillir des évènements, tels que rencontres, conférences et autres invitations ouvertes au public, qui pourront prendre place sous l’installation au long des 10 mois d’exposition.
Cobalt Muffin agit comme une présence géométrique flottant au dessus du sol. Son apparente complexité est en réalité faite de 60 triangles identiques et recouverts d’une peau semi-transparente en corde élastique.
Sa volumétrie est le résultat de la demi-sphere d’un «polyhèdre rhombicosacron». Des poteaux prolongent les arêtes de ce dôme et le surélèvent à 2m20 au dessus du sol. 7,5km d’élastique ont été nécessaires pour réaliser cette installation ainsi qu’une structure tubulaire en acier.

Cobalt Muffin is an original artwork especially designed for Shanghai Yuyuan Road by YokYok in 2019 and comissioned by CREATER.
The artwork takes place in 1107 Yuyuan road Shanghai in the Changning district. The lot is intended to host events as encounters, talks, and other kind of public invitations that can take place under the artwork during these 10 months exhibition.
Cobalt Muffin acts as a geometric presence floating over the lawn. Its apparent complexity is actually made of 60 similar triangles, covered with a semi-transparent skin made of elastic ropes.
Its volumetry is the result of an hemisphere of a «rhombicosacron polyhedra». Poles extend the edges of this dome and lift it up at 2m20 above ground. 7,5km of rope has been used to realize this installation, as well as a tubular metalic structure.
